Oman Health: India Preferred Destination For Medical Treatment
Most of the patients in Oman prefer India for their treatment, confirmed a large number of exhibitors, who are in the medical tourism sector in Oman at the International Medical Tourism Exhibition and Conference (IMTEC), which began here at the Oman Exhibition Centre on Monday.
“Local patients in Oman trust the Indian doctor’s expertise and a majority of the patients demand their treatment should be carried out in India,” Vidya Rani, general manager of Dhaman International LLC, who is in the healthcare for the last 17 years in Oman, told the Times of Oman.
According to Rani, Indian doctors are the best when it comes to diagnosing because they deal with a large number of patients in India and also different types of cases.
“Other reasons are that the treatment options in India are immense and also cost effective,” she added.
She also pointed out that Oman and India have good connectivity.
“Every week, we have flights available with more than 21,000 seats and 11 Indian destinations being connected with Muscat,” she said.
According to the Rani, the other advantage patients get in India is that senior specialised doctors, who are highly experienced, are connected with four or five different hospitals.
“This helps patients to choose a cheaper hospital where we they can get the same care and treatment from a particular doctor,” she stated.
Suhaib Ali Shah of Al Hakkim Medical Tourism also confirmed that a majority of the clients prefer India for their treatment.
A three-day exhibition and conference was recently inaugurated by Dr. Sultan Al Busaidi, advisor to the Minister of Health, where various ambassadors to the Sultanate of Oman were also present at the opening ceremony.
According to the General Manager of IMTEC, IMTEC Oman 2016 will provide the perfect platform for hospital groups, medical travel organisations and health services companies to increase their global presence and international patient work.
Around 39 companies, such as hospitals, medical centres, international and local medical tourism resorts that are represented by Germany, Turkey, India, Iran, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and United Arab Emirates, along with hospitals and medical centres from Sultanate of Oman, are participating in it.
According to the organisers, consultants from Vivantes Hospital, Germany, one of the largest hospitals in Berlin are coming for the first time in the Sultanate of Oman.
The exhibition and conference is being held under the patronage of the Ministry of Health and is organised by the East Expo Company.
A large number of consultants from different specialties, such as orthopaedics and joint surgery, neurosurgery, breast cancer and infertility, cosmetic surgery, hair transplant, skin care, heart surgery and tumours treatment are at the exhibition to provide free medical consultation to the visitors.
The International Medical Conference is being held along with the exhibition, and will have renowned speakers, specialist doctors and consultants from different countries, who will share their latest findings on medicine in various specialties.
The first day of the conference discussed the topic, “Future Roadmap for Oman Health: vision 2050” and it was led by Dr Ahmad Al Qasmi, director general of Planning and Studies, Ministry of Health.
The topics discussed on the second day of the conference were “Trauma Surgery and Spine Surgery, Immunotherapy—a novel era in oncology and new revolutionary treatment for heart patients etc.”
The exhibition will be open to visitors from 10 am to 1:30 pm during the morning session and from 4.30 am to 8.30 pm in the evening session.
