Kerala Health Tourism meet to focus on medical tourism

KOCHI, OCT 28:  Kerala Health Tourism 2015, the international conference and exhibition, will be held here at Hotel Le Meridien on October 30 and 31. The fifth edition of the conference will be organised by CII in association with Kerala Government.

Close to 40 speakers, including experts from the hospital and tourism industry are expected to participate in the two-day event, which would aim to create awareness and getting the stakeholders together to promote Kerala as hub for medical tourism in India by 2020.

Kerala with a close to 5-7 per cent of current market share (translating to $200 million of medical tourism revenues) can easily capture 10-15 per cent of the estimated market by 2020 signifying a localised medical tourism market of size $ 1 billion, a press release said.

CII, with the support of the State Government, will also be launching the Medical Value Traveller Portal, which will showcase the state's capabilities in the area of health tourism.

A study on “The Future of Health Tourism: 5 Years & Beyond” will also be undertaken in partnership with Grant Thornton following the conference.

Kerala Medical Value Travel (KMVT), a forum to promote health tourism initiatives, will also be launched during the programme.
